HESTA today announced Michael Sommers has been appointed as the new General Manager Portfolio Construction & Risk, joining the Fund’s redefined investment leadership structure.
Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Sonya Sawtell-Rickson said the appointment will enhance the delivery of the $56-billion Fund’s investment strategy to keep delivering strong, long-term returns.
“Strengthening our portfolio construction and risk management is key to our overall investment strategy that aims to continue delivering competitive, long-term investment performance for our 870,000-plus members,” Ms Sawtell-Rickson said.
“With over 20 years’ experience in financial services, Michael has a proven track record in portfolio construction, derivative and alternatives strategies and risk management that will complement the skills and capabilities of our existing Investment team talent. I’m thrilled to welcome him to the team.”

+ January 10, 2021 THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has distributed P11 million worth of financial support to local farmers who are beneficiaries of the Quick Turn Around/Early Planting Incentives Project of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA).

Currency in circulation rises Rs 3.23 lakh crore in first nine months of FY21

CiC grew by Rs 3,23,003 crore, or 13.2 per cent, to Rs 27,70,315 crore as on January 1, 2021 from Rs 24,47,312 crore as on March 31, 2020, according to recent data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

CiC includes banknotes and coins. At present, RBI issues notes in denominations of Rs 2, Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 20, Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 200, Rs 500 and Rs 2,000.
MUMBAI: The Currency in Circulation (CiC) grew by around 13 per cent in the first nine months of the current fiscal as people preferred holding on to cash as a precautionary measure amid the uncertainty caused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
